MIKE BRODERICK
Coach Mike is certified as a running
coach through the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and is one of the four
course instructors for the RRCA Coaching Certification program which trains and
certifies adult distance running coaches nationwide. Mike is certified as a
personal trainer by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National
Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and National Strength Professionals
Association (NSPA). He has been coaching runners in groups and individually
since 1999 and is the founder and director of the Experienced Marathoner’s
Program for the Montgomery County Road Runners Club. This highly successful
group program has trained several hundred runners and has helped many to run
significant personal best times and to qualify to run the Boston Marathon. Mike
has also coached many individual runners to significant improvements in their
race performances. Mike has run over a dozen marathons and more than 30
ultra marathons involving distances from 50K to 100 miles.
STEPHEN HAYS
Coach Steve is certified as a
running coach through RRCA and through United States Track and Field
(USATF). He holds a USATF Level II Distance Coach Certification as well
as other Level II Certifications. He has coached runners through the
MCRRC First Time Marathon Program, the DC Marathon Program, and the Experienced
Marathoner’s Program. Additionally, he is the Head Track and Field Coach
and Head Cross Country Coach at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, MD, and
has coached a number of State Champions and runners who went on to become NCAA
Division I athletes. Steve has qualified for the Boston Marathon eight
times and has run Boston five times. His marathon PR is 2:55. He
has run over 25 marathons and two ultra marathons.
